Kenzie's Haircut

If you are one of my facebook friends, you've seen the before photo of Mackenzie chopping up her hair.  Particularly on the right side of her head.  Yesterday, I took her to the hairdresser to get it fixed as best as possible without shaving her head.

She wasn't too crazy about the idea.  It took some bribing with a dum dum lollipop and a stuffed pig.  Madeleine was also an encouragement to Mackenzie and stayed by her side during the entire process.

I, of course, took my camera.  I had to get some shots of Mackenzie's first visit to the beauty shop. As you'll see in the last photo, she wasn't too crazy at first with the outcome.

Dress Up fun

Our church, Faith Bible Church in DeSoto, TX, hosts Trunk or Treat as a halloween alternative. This year we all joined in the festivities and dressed up. Mickey helps with the puppet show, so he was already up at the church preparing; and Matthew took Miles' photo with his phone, so I don't have his photo to share with you. Hope you get a kick out of the rest of us.

Love, Misty

Tired of pictures

Mackenzie and I headed to the park while Madeleine was at dance this past week. Of course I brought my camera to get some photos, but that was very short lived.  Mackenzie quickly went from this:

to this:

She was crying no more pictures, no more pictures.

Hmm...maybe she needs a break from the camera.

Madeleine is 12!

Yesterday was my baby girl's birthday, and I can't  believe she's 12 already!  Only six more years! In six more years, Lord willing, she'll be an adult, preparing to leave the protection of our home.  Six years is not long enough!

She and I have had some challenges now that she's growing up and changing into a young lady.  I know this six years will go quick, so praying God will guide me to train her and prepare her for adulthood, and she'll have sweet memories of the years ahead.

It's Just a Worm!!

A few days ago, we were out in the front yard playing around and enjoying the weather.  Lucy was digging a hole, and the children were curious as to what she had found.  I suggested she had found her a worm.  Sure enough, it was an ugly, fat grub worm.

Madeleine picked it up and displayed the worm for all to see.  My children love critters--insects, spiders, snakes, frogs, and so on.  However, Mackenzie is not so sure of such things.  She got one glimpse of that worm and ran away in mortal dread, crying and screaming in fear.

I know it's not funny for her, but we all couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. I did have my camera out, so before I grabbed her to calm her down, I had to snap a few pictures of her.

First, checking out what Lucy has found:

Then, after unearthing the grub worm:

She did calm down, and I convinced her to just look at it.  She was never thrilled about it, but she at least realized it wasn't going to hurt her.  I'm not sure she'll ever like critters as much as her big brothers and sister, but hopefully she won't be dreadfully afraid of them either.

Blogger App

Trying out the new blogger app. If this works. I can easily and immediately update my blog with photos from my iPhone.

Here's a small collage of a few photos from a recent trip to six flags. It was done with my favorite photo app, but I couldn't tell you the name of it. It's in Chinese or Japanese--not sure which.

Anyway, enjoy the pics.

We Can Go Outside Again Without Melting

It's been HOT!  I'm a summer girl, but even for me this summer has been vicious. We've been in the house most of the time--the kids staring at the tv or playing video games.  It's been nice to get out to the park this weekend.  As I mentioned in my last post, I hadn't taken many pictures of the children this summer because they're tired of my camera pointed at them so often.  Well, I got my camera out and had a time keeping up with them.  For the most part, they still are tired of having their picture taken, especially the older ones.  But, I've got a few for now.

Back from Summer Break

Summer is over, it's time to get back to school and back to blogging.  I really don't have too many pictures from our summer break.  The children are getting somewhat tired of having a camera in their face, so I haven't pulled it out in a while for family photos.  I'm hoping after a sabbatical from having their picture taken, they'll cooperate for some nice individual and family photos.  I would really like to get some favorite photos up in a wall collage.  Some fun and candid moments, as well as some with a "professional" look.  Of course, mom is the "professional", so they don't take me very seriously.

One of the highlights of our summer were the baby kittens.  We took in a sweet stray, and later we discovered she was pregnant.  We enjoyed these five little kittens we named (temporarily) Ranger, Minnie, Teddy, Freddy, and Tiara.  Fortunately, we were able to re-home all five kittens and are down to one dog and one cat and planning on keeping it that way.

Mickey had an exciting summer with summer camp and high adventure camp hiking through Colorado with his boyscout troop.  I still need to get his photos off the camera.  That's my next project.  Then I think I may have him guest blog and share all about it along with some of his really cool photos.

Have a great day,

Misty
